The Apapa Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has reported a revenue collection of ₦215 billion for August 2025 through the Unified Customs Management System (UCMS), popularly called B’Odogwu, despite network hitches experienced during the period.

Comptroller Babatunde Olomu, Customs Area Controller of the Command, attributed the feat to growing confidence in the platform and continuous improvements being made to the system. He commended officers and stakeholders for their resilience and unwavering support, describing the achievement as a demonstration of patriotism and commitment.

Olomu noted that the successful revenue performance highlights the system’s potential to deliver on the expectations of the trading community, particularly importers and exporters operating through Apapa Port, the nation’s busiest maritime hub.

He linked the improved stakeholder confidence to the consistent engagements personally championed by the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR. According to him, the CGC’s support has reassured stakeholders—including importers, exporters, customs brokers, and freight forwarders—that B’Odogwu is on the path to achieving greater efficiency.

The Controller also emphasized that the CGC has mandated the ICT/Modernisation Department at NCS Headquarters to intensify support services. This includes promptly addressing technical hitches, responding to user complaints, and ensuring seamless service delivery to further strengthen the system.

Expressing optimism about the platform’s future, Olomu said:

“Our ₦215 billion collection through B’Odogwu in August is a clear sign of progress in building a reliable platform for trade facilitation in Nigeria. This is a collective success, and with determination, we will continue to break new grounds.”

He assured stakeholders that their patience and belief in a homegrown ICT solution is invaluable to revolutionizing Nigeria’s trade environment, adding that the Service remains committed to braving challenges and achieving even greater milestones.
