Asset Declaration: CCB to Review Forms and Policy

The Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB on Wednesday 18 March, 2020 announced that it has commenced the review process of its asset declaration forms and policy for public office holders to factor in provisions for valuables like jewelleries, intellectual properties and some other personal valuables.

This new development was disclosed by the CCB chairman, Mohammed Isah, while speaking on the sidelines of the “Stakeholder’s Consultative Forum on Asset Declaration and other Reforms” organised by the Bureau in partnership with the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption Project and the Centre for Social Justice.

According to Isah, the need to review the policy is to forestall concerns of loopholes while encouraging preventive measures in the fight against corruption.

Isah said some of the codes in the forms were made without interpretations or definitions, and that it had put the bureau at the mercy of judicial wits and personal interpretation of judges.
