January 20, (THE PORTWAY) The DCG in charge of Tariff and Trade of the Nigeria Customs Service, Hajiya Talatu Mairo (MFR), has retired from active service.

Congratulatory messages poured in from different commands of the NCS to celebrate with the outgoing DCG Tariff and Trade who many said was an inspirational leader to them.

Isa, earlier before a party organized in her name kicked off at the NCS headquarters in Wuse Zone 3, went round to thank officers and men of the NCS for their support and also charged them to be steadfast in discharging their duties, adding that hard work pays.

Biography of Hajiya Talatu Mairo

Hajiya Talatu Mairo (MFR) Isa was born on the 30th of December, 1965 and hails from Niger State. She attended LEA Primary School Minna from 1969 to 1976 and completed her Secondary School education at Government Girls’ College Minna in 1981.

She attended the School of Basic Studies, ABU Zaria from 1982-1983 and the University of Sokoto from 1983-1986 where she obtained a Bachelor of English Language.

She proceeded for the mandatory National Youth Service Corp in 1987 and pursued a career thereafter with the Nigeria Customs Service from 1988 and rose to the rank of Deputy-Comptroller General. She went for further studies from 2009 to 2010 and earned a Masters’ in Public Administration (MPA). She is currently the Deputy-Comptroller General, (Trade &Tariff). She has attended various trainings during the course of her career particularly the Trade Facilitation Courses at World Customs Organization Belgium (Brussels) and UAE (Dubai).

She was appointed Board Member of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) representing the Comptroller – General of the Nigeria Custom Service by President Muhammadu Buhari on the 9th of December, 2019. She is married with children.
