The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), in collaboration with Paystack, has launched Operation Go Cashless, a new cashless and contactless payment system across Nigerian airports, beginning with Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
Effective September 29, 2025, FAAN announced that all payments at its revenue points—including airport access gates, car parks, VIP and protocol lounges—will transition fully to cashless transactions. This means the collection of cash at these points will be phased out, enabling travelers and airport users to enjoy faster and more secure services through digital payment channels.
According to FAAN, the initiative is designed to meet the rising demand for modern, transparent payment systems and ensure Nigeria’s airports keep pace with global digital trends. By cutting reliance on cash, the Authority aims to boost efficiency, strengthen revenue assurance, and enhance customer experience.
To support the transition, trained brand ambassadors have been deployed at access gates and terminals to guide passengers, assist with onboarding, provide demonstrations, and answer questions. Passengers can also obtain a FAAN Go Cashless Card at designated access gates in Lagos and Abuja, which can be activated and funded via www.gocashless.faan.gov.ng
FAAN confirmed that the policy will be expanded in phases to cover other airports nationwide.
