The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) on Friday, July 5, 2024, issued a warning to the public not to use 10 non-commercial planes for commercial reasons due to their refusal to start the recertification procedure.
The authority in a statement obtained by PORTS & BORDERS listed the following private aircrafts that were suspended from flying the Nigeria’s airspace: Azikel Dredging Nigeria Ltd., Bli-Aviation Safety Services, Ferry Aviation Developments Ltd., Matrix Energy Ltd., Marrietta Management Services Ltd., Worldwide Skypaths Services, Mattini Airline Services Ltd., Aero Lead Ltd., Sky Bird Air Ltd., and Ezuma Jets Ltd.
According to NCAA, “The Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations 2023, Part 18.3.4 forbids holders of PNCF from using their aircraft for carriage of passengers, cargo or mail for hire or reward (commercial operation or charter services).” As a result of the disregard of this rule, the NCAA says it had “earlier directed all holders of PNCF to undergo re-evaluation which should have been concluded by the 19th of April 2024.”
As a result, the NCAA issued a notice to the public declaring that “it is illegal to engage PNCF holders for commercial purposes” and announcing that it will not be reluctant to take legal action against any holder who is proven to have engaged in illicit activities.
According to NCAA, its representatives have been stationed at airport private wings and General Aviation Terminals (GAT) to keep an eye on the PNCF holders’ operations.
