The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) is now set to commission its new Multi-billion Naira headquarters building located at Maitama in Abuja.
The Twelve stories high rise building with five floors wings on both sides, fully automated in line with modern customs services will be commissioned by President Muhammadu Buhari tomorrow, Tuesday 23 May, 2023.
The project, THE PORTWAY learned has spanned over 18 years, as it was started by former Comptroller General Hamman Bello, however, major construction works were done by former Comptroller General, Abdulahi Inde Dikko (late).
“The major work was done by Dikko, he actually thought he could finish it and commission it, but time ran out. He was developing other projects at the same time, including the customs quarters among others” a source told THE PORTWAY.
The project has now been completed by Col Hameed Ali (rtd) and is ready for commissioning.
The movement according to inside sources would however be in phases, adding that there is a movement plan being developed by the service.
There are also considerations that the old office at Wuse Zone 3 Abuja would now be used as PAAR office, enforcement, and others.
