Royal Caribbean’s Star of the Seas, the world’s largest cruise ship, has set off on its maiden journey from Port Canaveral, Florida, on August 31. The massive vessel spans 20 decks and is carrying over 5,000 passengers. A sister ship to the Icon of the Seas, it has been designed as a floating city, divided into eight themed neighbourhoods. Among its features are 40 bars and restaurants, a sprawling park with more than 30,000 plants, and seven swimming pools—including a 12-metre surf simulator. Guests can also experience Category 6, the biggest waterpark at sea, complete with six record-breaking slides, including the tallest drop slide, the first open free-fall slide, and two raft slides.
Onboard entertainment is equally ambitious. Highlights include a Back to the Future musical with a flying DeLorean replica, alongside rock climbing, laser tag, a skywalk, gaming lounge, karaoke, cinema, mini golf, and ice-skating shows in a dedicated arena. Additional amenities range from a music hall, casino, fitness centre, and spa to a Starbucks café and an escape room.
The ship’s inaugural seven-night itinerary will take passengers through the Caribbean and the Bahamas, with fares starting from £745.
