Few weeks after announcing first confirmed case of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Nigeria, the Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire on Monday 9, 2020 announced a second confirmed case of the virus in Nigeria.
Ehanire made the disclosure at a press conference in Benin City, Edo State capital while speaking at the boardroom of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital. On how the second case was confirmed,d he said that the new case was a contact of the index case and not a new importation into the country.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) also announced the confirmation of the second coronavirus case via its verified twitter handle.
According to the disease control body, the case is a contact of the index case in Ogun state and has been in isolation and was tested as part of strategy to check all contacts of the index case.
