Lekki Port appoints Wang Qiang as MD and CEO

The promoter of Lekki Deep Sea Port, Lekki Port LFTZ Enterprise Limited (LPLEL), has named Wang Qiang as its new Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, replacing Du Ruogang.

According to the Lekki Port Board of Directors, this change in leadership reinforces the business’s dedication to operational excellence and its crucial role in furthering Nigeria’s economic and maritime development.

Prior to his appointment, Wang served in strategic leadership positions at China Communication Construction Company Limited (CCCC) subsidiaries China Harbour Engineering Company Limited, CORE Investment Consultancy (Beijing) Co. Limited, and CCCG Overseas Real Estate Pte. Limited.

Wang began his career at China Harbour Engineering Company Limited (CHEC), Sri Lanka, where he was in charge of performing engineering tasks associated with CHEC building projects. This entailed overseeing project sites on a daily basis, including construction management, spare parts planning, purchasing, storage, budget, and cost system operation.

His previous positions included the Hambantota Port Development Project (Phase 1) in Sri Lanka, the Puttalam Coal Plant Project in Sri Lanka, where he oversaw the maintenance budget and cost control system and procedures, and the Project of New Terminal of Puerto Cabello in Valencia, Venezuela, where he was in charge of the establishment, operation, and maintenance budget and cost control system and procedures at both establishments.

Additionally, he oversaw the administrative, financial, and commercial divisions of the Venezuelan enterprise known as the Maritime Terminal of Moron Petrochemical Complex. As the President of CORE (USA) Investment Holding LLC, he oversaw the strategic direction of the Los Angeles, USA-based real estate project known as “The Grand Project.”

Over the last 18 years, he has garnered extensive expertise in investment management, real estate, and quality assurance in various countries, including China, the United States of America, Venezuela, and Sri Lanka.

He brings robust experience spanning various fields, including Engineering, Investments, Quality Assurance, Commercial and Administration, Terminal Operations, Strategic Planning, and Real Estate, to his new role.

Wang graduated from Hohai University with a bachelor’s degree in harbor, channels, and coastal engineering as well as a master’s degree in transport engineering. The Board emphasized that he is qualified to oversee Lekki Port’s expansion and operations due to his broad experience in a variety of disciplines.
