The Nigerian Shippers’ Council says it has commenced talks with the Borno State Government with a view to establishing an Inland Dry Port (IDP) in Maiduguri, the state capital.

Executive Secretary of the Council, Mr Emmanuel Jime who held a meeting with the governor, Prof Babagana Zulum at the government house, Maiduguri, recently disclosed that both parties have commenced talks that would crystallise in the establishment of an IDP.

The Council noted that establishing an Inland Dry Port in the state will help to deepen the connectivity of the northern region of the country with conventional seaports in order to enhance trade and commerce.
