The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has started deploying B’odogwu, a digital platform designed to facilitate 24-hour cargo clearance at the nation’s seaports.
This was announced on Monday by the Deputy Comptroller General of Customs in charge of ICT and Modernization, Kikelomo Adeola in a meeting with terminal operators from Tincan and Apapa Ports.
She emphasized that the goal of the ongoing Customs modernization project is to improve operational efficiency and streamline procedures throughout Nigerian ports.
Adeola gave credit to the Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA) for bolstering Nigeria’s ability to effectively manage large trade volumes by supporting the project with facilities at Tincan and Apapa Ports.
“We are preparing for the deployment of newly procured non-intrusive inspection equipment to various ports in 2025 to enhance the cargo inspection process,” she stated.
She also emphasized the significance of developing stakeholders’ competence, promising to keep up training efforts until at least 90% of participants are proficient in utilizing B’odogwu.
Adeola added that 20 banks have already signed up for accounts on the B’odogwu platform.
According to her, the system is centralized and facilitates smooth integration, including password management and possible connection to the National Single Window, which would improve accessibility for all parties involved.
