The Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) has launched a registration portal for providers and users of port services operating at Onne Port, Rivers State.

NSC Executive Secretary, Barr. Akutah Pius Ukeyima, stated that the launching of portal was in compliant with the council’s directive to register all regulated service providers and users doing business at the country’s seaports.

The NSC boss was represented by the Director, South-South Zone, Glory Onajedo.

Akutah described the launching of the portal as a milestone.

He said the portal provides a database of service providers, as well as “genuine” shippers and other stakeholders operating at the ports.

Recall that the nationwide launching was held in Apapa, Lagos State on Friday June 16, 2023.

Some stakeholders who spoke with Shipper described the launch of the online portal as a welcome development and expressed optimism that the platform would aid their operations at the ports.

The regulated port service providers and Port users include Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) freight forwarders, truckers, seaport terminal operators, stevedoring companies, shippers, off- duck terminal operators, badge operators, among others.
