The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) is ramping up efforts to support the Federal Government’s trade reform agenda by enhancing collaboration with the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and the National Single Window (NSW) Secretariat.

On Tuesday, Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, welcomed FIRS Executive Chairman, Dr. Zacch Adedeji, and NSW Project Director, Mr. Tola Fakolade, to the NCS Headquarters in Abuja for a strategic meeting.

The session focused on assessing progress on the Nigerian National Single Window Project and mapping out final steps ahead of its anticipated rollout in the first quarter of 2026.

Describing the project as a “transformational initiative that will reshape Nigeria’s trade landscape,” CGC Adeniyi emphasized that inter-agency collaboration is key to its success.

“This initiative goes beyond technology—it’s about creating a modern, unified trade environment where government agencies operate seamlessly to deliver faster, more transparent, and efficient services to the trading public,” he said.

Initiated in April 2024 by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the National Single Window is a centralized digital platform that integrates all trade-related government agencies, aiming to streamline processes, reduce cargo clearance times, and enhance Nigeria’s competitiveness in global trade.

Dr. Adedeji reaffirmed FIRS’s commitment to the initiative, assuring that the agency will work closely with partners to ensure the platform achieves its goals of increased compliance, revenue growth, and improved business efficiency.

Mr. Fakolade urged all participating agencies to meet their integration milestones to stay on track for the Q1 2026 launch.

The meeting ended with a joint commitment by NCS, FIRS, and the NSW Secretariat to accelerate technical integration efforts, maintain transparent communication, and engage stakeholders proactively.

Once operational, the platform is expected to boost revenue generation, improve regulatory compliance, support job creation, and deliver significant benefits to businesses, government institutions, and consumers.
