NIS strengthens collaboration with IOM, harps on capacity building

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), today Tuesday, 4th July 2023 hosted a delegation from the International Organization for Migration (IOM), on a working visit at its headquarters in Abuja.

The delegation was led by Mr. Laurent DeBoeck, the Chief of Mission, which further deepened the engagement between NIS and IOM.

IOM works closely with NIS and other government agencies on issues of migration management, immigration, and border management to strengthen its personnel capacity, enhance border security, improve border surveillance and patrol.

The Ag. Comptroller General of Immigration, Caroline Wura-Ola Adepoju fsi, pcc+ who received the delegation noted that a wide range of crucial topics were addressed, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts in areas such as capacity building, and fostering stronger synergy between NIS and IOM.

The visit concluded on a positive note, with both NIS and IOM expressing their commitment to nurturing this partnership and translating the discussed ideas into concrete actions.
