President Bola Tinubu congratulated Adewale Adeniyi, the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), on his 59th birthday, which was observed on Sunday, January 19, 2025.

Bayo Onanuga, his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, released a statement on Saturday expressing the President’s best wishes. Adeniyi’s achievements to the Customs Service and the country were emphasized in the announcement, “President Tinubu Celebrates Customs CG Adewale Adeniyi on His 59th Birthday.”

Adeniyi’s crucial work since taking over as head of the Customs Service in June 2023 has been praised by the President, according to the statement. Under his direction, the agency has made great strides in automating and digitizing its operations, reaffirming its dedication to professionalism, and boosting officer morale, all of which have boosted performance throughout the board.

He also commended the creative anti-smuggling initiatives put in place during Adeniyi’s administration, saying, “These strategies include fostering engagements with traditional institutions, promoting a culture of effective communication and mutual respect, and equipping young people with skills for alternative livelihoods.”

The President went on to emphasize Adeniyi’s noteworthy accomplishments, including the impressive weapons and ammunition seizures and the resuscitation of the Comptroller-General’s Annual Conference, which strives to assess and improve the agency’s operations.

Tinubu praised Adeniyi’s more than thirty years of service, pointing out that the Customs Service has benefited greatly from his flexibility and commitment to advancement.

In closing, the President prayed for the Comptroller-General’s ongoing vigor, good health, and divine wisdom as he serves the country.
