The PTML Area Command of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has banned its officers from using their offices as homes.
The order was issued in an internal memo, copy of which was sighted by THE PORTWAY.
The Customs Area Controller, Compt. Ali Mahmud Ibrahim expressed displeasure over intelligence reports that some officers and non-officers of the service turned their offices into bedrooms and kitchens after closing hours.
Ibrahim said the act has caused “serious breach of the security architecture put in place by the command”.
He warned that any person caught passing the night in the office or wandering around the premises after closing hours will be arrested and prosecuted.
“Every person who in any public place conducts himself in a manner likely to cause as breach of peace shall be deemed idle and disorderly person and may be arrested without warrant and are guilty of a simple offence and liable to imprisonment,” the memo read.
